Sky Go Extra takes Sky Go a few steps further: Stream live and catch up TV from your Sky package on your phone, tablet, laptop, Xbox and PlayStation; Watch on up to three screens at the same time, including your main TV; Download great entertainment in the UK or ROI via Wi-Fi to watch anywhere, without 3G, 4G, 5G or Wi-Fi, and; Out and about?
Sky Go allows customers of the UK satellite broadcaster to stream a range of live and on-demand video content via their computers, phones, tablets and Xbox 360s, as part of their Sky TV subscriptions. The service is offered at no extra cost to subscribers, who can register two devices to access content at home or on the move.

But users who have enjoyed the service on their Xbox 360s will soon find their access blocked, unless they are subscribed to the company's premium Sky Go Extra package, which will also let them register up to four devices and download content for offline viewing.
Customers who already subscribe to Sky Go Extra will not be affected by the changes, but other customers will have to pay an additional £5 per month for the Extra bundle to be able to be use Sky Go on the Xbox 360 from July 29. As one tech blogger noted today on Twitter, this may be a bitter pill to swallow for Xbox 360 users, given that Microsoft recently dropped its own Xbox Live Gold subscription requirements for using apps like Sky Go on its console.
To celebrate Microsoft removing the £30 per year fee to watch Sky Go on Xbox, Sky will now charge you £5 per MONTH for the pleasure.
— Anthony (@FreshPlastic) June 23, 2014The move will also affect owners of the PlayStation 3 and 4, as Sky promised in May that it would launch Sky Go on those consoles later this summer. As with the Xbox 360, Sky subscribers wishing to access Sky Go content on the PS3 and PS4, once the company launches its apps for those devices, will also need to be signed up to the Extra package.

Sky News has extended its digital services to Microsoft’s last-generation games console, the Xbox 360, allowing millions of UK and US gamers to access live news and on demand coverage for free.
Xbox Live customers were capable of accessing the 24-hour news channel from their consoles after it launched on Tuesday.
The app includes the latest breaking news as well as business, political and entertainment coverage. In addition to the live channel feed, the Sky News app also offers access to a wide range of on demand stories through a constantly updating video on demand library.
Both UK and US viewers will have news tailored to their respective regions with specifically selected editorial content.
Sky News developed the app in partnership with 1 Mainstream, a digital TV distribution platform for deploying HD video services.
Andrew Hawken, head of Sky News Digital, said: “Sky News is consistently exploring opportunities to expand our global reach. Making Sky News available on Xbox was an ideal way to achieve this. With a growing US footprint of a million users and a US news team, we’re thrilled that our coverage will be showcased to millions of Xbox customers.”
Rajeev Raman, cheif executive of 1 Mainstream, said: “We’re pleased to extend our relationship with Sky to help them expand the footprint for Sky News and to deliver its world-class journalism to millions of people in the US.
“Together with Sky, we continue to bring innovative over-the-top (OTT) services to the growing audience of connected-TV users.”
Sky New’s latest release follows an overall digital expansion which has saw the channel integrated with the Apple TV, Roku and Livestation in the last month. As a result of this, Sky News now boasts over 100 million viewers across Europe, North America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
On the mobile front, the news broadcaster last month extended its deal with native advertising firm Outbrain to become the first UK brand to use its services to increase performance across its apps.
